December Update

2/12/06
PSC Scholarship Tea Session in the morning at the Possibility Room at the National Library Building. It was a pretty small group of students, and lots of PSC personnel to go around. It was also our luck (my parents came with me) to be led around by a PSC-MOE personnel, since I have my eyes set on the Overseas Merit Scholarship (Teaching). The session was useful not so much for me, but for my parents to clear up their doubts and have their queries answered by PSC people. Of course, the tea reception at the end was the highlight for them. :)

ACJC Senior's Night 2006 was held at the Ritz-Carlton Millenia Hotel tonight. The theme was "Le Raison D'etre", which was French for "the reason for existence". Wasn't exactly the best prom theme, but the graduates dressed to kill nonetheless. For the guys, there were lots of blazers, a couple of dyed hair (one went blond), a couple of hats and even a musketeer. For the ladies, gowns, hair, make-up; nothing was spared. Myself, I went in a black shirt and black pants with a red tie. And my estimation was that 90% of the ballroom that night had cameras. I don't think a lot of people really cared that dinner was horrendous, 'cause everybody was busy taking photos anyway. Stage performances were okay until the final performance by Ethel and ... who's the guy? Everybody remembers Ethel anyway. And post-prom at DXO must have been great. Post-prom for me was taking a bus home and sleeping. :)

10/12/06
Tapestry dance at Ghim Moh. The event was titled "Noise in the Market" and the stage was set up literally next to the market. Wasn't that bad. Afternoon was spent in the Black Studio doing the Oxford Written Test for Mathematics. The paper was surprisingly easy, but that probably means more emphasis on presentation of solutions. Hope I get it.

11/12/06
The DEP class and a couple of graduation J2s in "The Golden Country" went to catch a performance at the Drama Centre Black Box after "The Golden Country" rehearsals. The show was called "Ibsen Women - Put An Eagle In A Cage", and it presented women monologues from 6 of Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen's plays. Juni Dahr was so fabulous in delivering the 6 Ibsen women, who had a common theme of "freedom". I suddenly felt like being a woman.

14/12/06
Went for a session of paintball at Crossfire @ Singapore Discovery Centre with the madams, the old comm and the new comm. Fortunately (or unfortunately) the sun was shining while the game went on. We played "Capture The Flag" (CTF) for 3 sets of 2 rounds each, and the new comm team won the last 2 sets completely. To use up all our available rounds of pellets we played a last game of "Last Man Standing", and in a nail-biting showdown between two women Judith and Glory, the latter won. This was some victory for the new comm. Hope they will be able to work better together.

16/12/06
I'm officially of legal drinking age as of today. Had dinner at Patrick's with the madams, Fruit and Jud. The madams fly to USA later in the morning.

18/12/06
One of the best birthday presents yet: conditional offer from Oxford. :)

22/12/06
Massive spring-cleaning of my bedroom today. The hills on my tables are gone. :)

And of course, rehearsals for "The Golden Country" have been going on. Which brings me to...
