March Update

1/3/07
Booked out at night for results tomorrow.

2/3/07
I returned to ACJC at about 11-plus am, much earlier than the 2.30pm release as stated in the MOE press release. Most of the people I met all commented about my skin colour and asked about NS. The usual. When results were revealed, I was surprised by my achievement: 7 distinctions. I was more surprised by my A2 grade for GP. Great fun.

4/3/07
CPL Khalif's wedding at Simei. Unfortunately, the 2 hours prior to the event turned out to be one big confusion, what with last-minute changes in meeting time and the question of whether it was necessary to show up. I went in my Smart 4 nevertheless. After that, hung out with other Section 1 guys who went in their Smart 4 as well before booking in to Tekong again.

8/3/07
Game's Day and Recruit's Evening. Easily the best day of the whole BMT experience (apart from getting sunburnt).

11/3/07
Guard duty.

13/3/07
POP!!! ...and a wet one at that. Nevertheless, spirits were high; we're all Privates now! :)

14/3/07-16/3/07
3 days of non-stop scholarship applications. Loke, NUS GMS, MAS and FIREfly.

15/3/07
Platoon BBQ outing at East Coast Park. I was heading to ECP at 3-plus when I saw a couple of Platoon 1 guys kicking away at the street soccer court across the road from ECP. I hung around there until 5 plus when I found out that there were people at the BBQ pits already. For the rest of the night I handled the cooking at Pit 8, a.k.a. the Chill pit (as opposed to Pit 9, a.k.a. the HAPPENING pit). All great fun.

16/3/07
Watched ACSIS's performance of Black Comedy at the new ACS CPA.

23/3/07
ePosting results: I'm going to MP Training School to be a Military Policeman. :D Went to EDB for my FIREfly Scholarship 1st interview, and I was once again battling my own uncertain nerves. After the interview, I met up with the other guys from Section 3 at Marina Bay MRT. Seemed like our section was a OCS-free section: out of 12, 6 are going to SISPEC, 2 going to MP (including me), 1 to RP, 1 to Band, 1 to Medic and 1 to Combat Medic. We had dinner at ThaiExpress in Citilink Mall before heading to the arcade at Marina Square.

24/3/07
2SA1 gathering at Plaza Singapura today. We were originally planning to watch a movie with Mr. Gary Chan, but he couldn't make it at the last minute. Furthermore there was a long queue at the cineplex of PS, so eventually we settled for some sort of high tea at Fish & Co in the Glasshouse. The attendance was not bad: me, June Teng, Jess, Ho Yuen, Beiqin, Arvin and the Back Row minus Robyn, Iris and Jimmy. After the high tea, Barry and Yan Bo left for Red Blue Gold (which I decided in the end not to go, so as to save money) and others left for their other appointments, leaving me, Liz, Beiqin and June Teng in Kopitiam Plaza Singapura for dinner.

25/3/07
ACSian Theatre was the host for a group of girls from Jeppe High School for Girls. They flew in from Johannesburg, South Africa, just the day before, and today I volunteered to go on a civic cum heritage tour around CBD with Mrs C and a couple of J1 Drama members. We first had breakfast at Maxwell Hawker Centre (which was near the hostel where the girls were staying), after which we walked over to the Sri Mariamman Temple to continue our tour. Places visited include Chinatown, Raffles Place (where Yi Jun joined us and became tour guide of the day), Merlion Park, Esplanade and the Civilian War Memorial. In the evening we walked down the Singapore River from the Sir Stamford Raffles Landing Site to Patrick's for dinner - authentic chicken rice. Thanks to Yi Jun, I left the restaurant bloated.

26/3/07
1st day of MP Basic 05/2007 batch.

30/3/07
1st book-out.
