It's me again with another update! :)
The week of 13 February had been spent busy preparing for Fun-O-Rama XVIII. The tents went up at the start of the week, the college is buzzing with the sort of energy only a funfair can bring, and coupon sales increased exponentially. Even though Friday was officially set aside for Fun-O-Rama XVIII preparations, many classes (including 2SA1) started on Thursday, having asked to be excused from most classes for that day. By the end of Friday, most of the decorations for the food stall had already gone up. A couple of us stayed overnight at Barry's house, getting ready to wake up in the morning to fry the chicken wings.
I woke up on 18 February at 5.58am on Barry's living room sofa. June Teng and Barry's maid had already begun the job of frying the chicken wings. Since it seemed that June Teng, Beiqin (who arrived in the morning), Barry and his maid could manage the frying by themselves, most of us left the house early to go to school. While Jun Yi's group set to work putting up their tall signpost for the foodstall, I flitted between the dunking booth and the food stall. By 8.15am, it seemed everything was ready for our class at least.
I had to be at the opening ceremony. When that was over, I quickly changed out of my pants into PE shorts and headed down to the dunking booth. My original shift was from 9am to 12nn, but I was having so much fun at the dunking booth that I decided to stay there the whole day. The highlight of the day at the dunking booth was definitely the dunking of Mrs Kelvyna Chan, which raised $2500 for us (would have been more had the guy not hit the target).
The food stall packed up at 2pm after selling EVERYTHING. The rain came while we were desperately raising funds for Mr. Mark Ng's dunking (at about 4 plus). The heavy rain meant we had to stop the dunking booth then. The last hour was spent walking around the college trying to get something to eat and drink. At about 5 plus, we started to clean up our stalls (the food stall was pretty much cleaned up already). We were practically done by 6pm, if not for the late arrival of Uncle Ringo to pick up the dunking machine.
The following Monday was, of course, coupon counting and an early day off. While most of the class headed to Xue Yi's house, I still had lots of drama stuff: heading to DeoSilver's office to pay the outstanding balance for the T-shirts and to submit the design for the next batch of T-shirts, getting our immunization jabs for the South Africa Tour at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (including a free show of hysteria) and rehearsal for one of the dances for the tour. Oh well, makes you want to be a secondary school student again.
The week went on pretty much normally. Founder's Day is creeping up. The uniform check for prize winners on Thursday was the first time I wore a No. 1 uniform, save for the tie (which Yan Bo forgot to bring). Friday was another busy day, with Yi Jun and I rushing to DeoSilver's to check the T-shirt samples and submitting our order, then rushing back to school for Founder's Day rehearsal. We could finally relax at Arts Night 06, albeit with lots of screaming and stuff.
Yesterday after more blocking for The Tempest (wow, we're almost finishing!), we had our first practice for the bhangra performance we're doing in South Africa. The 3.5-hour session was definitely calorie-burning and almost muscle-tearing (my calf muscles were almost gone), and I need to work more on coordination of hands and legs.
Before I end of this particularly long entry (hah, Kegan, beat me! Wait, you already have...), here's another advertisement for a SUPERBLY EXCELLENT rock performance coming up:
