Still playing Pokemon Sapphire. Gotten my 6th badge already.

Big Search 2003 is on! For those who are wondering, it's an islandwide treasure hunt organised by can.com.sg. It first appeared last year and I got quite interested in it. If only I was a bit older.

Still playing Pokemon Sapphire. Gotten the 5th badge, the Balance Badge, gotten HM03, Surf, and on my way to the next city via Surf. Busy, eh?

Nah, I'm trying to play as much as possible before April comes, when the electricity prices in Singapore rises. Or has it risen already...

Still playing Pokemon Sapphire. How boring can life get without school, friends and Pokemon?

Friday, March 28, 2003

Still playing Pokemon Sapphire. It gets boring when you're stuck at home. Luckily I've got my computer.

Thursday, March 27, 2003

Stayed at home and played Pokemon Sapphire. I've won two badges already and I'm in Slateport City. I'm done handing the Devon Goods to Captain Slate and defeated May on the route to Mauville City. Right now I'm heading there to challenge the gym.

Don't understand anything I've written here? Then perhaps you're not a Pokemon fan. Never mind then.

LATEST NEWSFLASH: ALL SINGAPORE SCHOOLS (UP TO AND INCLUSIVE OF JUNIOR COLLEGES) WILL BE CLOSED FROM 27 MARCH 2003 TO 6 APRIL 2003.

Looks like the Sars situation in Singapore is getting worse. Sars, if you've been living in a nutshell, is Severe Acute Respiratory Symptom, a deadly virus that can KILL....

Had the dreadful HCL Oral Examination today. It wasn't so bad, considering the fact that I went first (I had a Journalist Workshop to attend). I have hopes of getting at least 20 (out of 30).

Monday, March 24, 2003

We have a new form teacher (since Miss Yeo, our previous form teacher, has left). I can't believe it's Mr. Pandian, our Physics teacher. Great. (As you can see, that was sarcasm.)

Also, the walls of our classroom have been painted all over with our names. Hope it's artistic enough to keep. I went to Mr. Loh's office to talk to him regarding the painting of our classroom walls, and he said it was all right if it looked nice, not just to us, but to the general public. Er...not that it is going to be opened up for exhibition. So, I think the walls might need more sprucing up.

That's all I gotta say for today. There's HCL Oral for me tomorrow...

Finally finished my Chinese Project! But I haven't done any book reviews yet...:P

Saturday, March 22, 2003

It's a Saturday. Second last day of the holidays. Better get started on the homework.

Friday, March 21, 2003

I had so much fun today at the Councillor Leadership Camp.

The first two programmes on the schedule were talks by Mrs. Fong and Mrs. B Lim (not to be mistaken with Mrs. Lim LS). During Mrs. Fong's talk, we had a brainstorming session, and during Mrs. Lim's talk, we had a role play. Doesn't seem interesting to some people, but at least they added life to the boring talks.

Then, we had a very fun session of rugby with Mr. Chee. He taught us the basics of rugby: passing the ball, formation, and rules of touch rugby. We had a lot of fun, and had a lot of sweat. In fact, this might have been one of the few times that I had shed so much sweat.

Breathless.

I downloaded the official US version of Pokemon Sapphire! Is that cool or what?!

Wednesday, March 19, 2003

ELDDS practice today. Smooth running. Our play's a few seconds over the time limit (20 minutes), but we can reduce that. Cool.

Tuesday, March 18, 2003

Today's the second day of the Chinese Enrichment Camp, and today's the serious day. That's because today's talks were to prepare for our O Level exams this year (we are taking the Chinese exam this year). Examination analysis, composition writing, oral and letter writing. And we went home 30 minutes later than scheduled. Talk about proper time management.

Monday, March 17, 2003

Today's the first day of the Chinese Enrichment Camp our school's Chinese Department has organised. The first day is also the fun day. There were talks on word riddles (my favourite), writing children poems (boring), fengshui and a movie showing titled Living (Huo Zhe).

To be continued...

Went to support my primary school, Keming Primary School, at their in-house musical production this evening. I met up with my friends to have dinner at McDonald's. We almost came in late for the musical at University Cultural Centre. Actually, we came at the same time Dr. Ong Chit Chung, the Guest-Of-Honour, arrived in his car.

We had tickets at the back row of level 1.

---musical goes on---

I hate to say it, but in Simon Cowell's words, "It sucked. Big time." Lame script, bad voice projection and very inconsiderate audience. Only the backdrop of the stage was cool.

Saturday, March 15, 2003

Went to the library to borrow some books for book reviews this holiday. We are supposed to do 4 book reviews. I'd rather be dead.

On a happier note, I downloaded Pokemon Sapphire!

...In Japanese. Never mind that, it's still playable. And, boy (or girl) must you check it out! It's brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant!

Today is Miss Yeo's last day in school. Being her form class, we prepared an unforgettable and tear-jerking farewell party for her. We spent one of her three periods with us eating and laughing and crying and giving presents and taking photos. Miss Yeo was the Queen today.

World's craziest human domino?

The Inter-unit Drill Competition's on this afternoon, and I am again an emcee for this event. (I have been an emcee for many events since Secondary 1.) The main objective of this competition was to select a Guard-of-Honour for Speech Day 2003. There were 4 participating contingents: Girl Guides, SJAB, NCC and NPCC. At the end, these were the winners:

Best Turn-Out: SJAB
Best Commander: From Girl Guides
Creative Drill: NCC
Champion: NCC

Predicted that NCC would win...Good job!

Then for tonight's debate, the Secondary 2 supporters could not go because they were down for the Sec 2 Streaming Talk. Nevertheless, we won! Three rounds and we won them all! Most probably they're in the Quarter-Finals, but I didn't stay to find out because I wanted to rush home to catch Survivor: The Amazon.

Some of the students from our class (and a few from 3/3) were taking part in a quiz cum nation-wide competition titled "Discovering Singapore". Organised by Singapore Discovery Centre, our team has gotten into the Semi-Finals and are competing with 3 teams from other schools today at the SDC. I went as a supporter.

When we reached our destination, it began to rain heavily. We got a bit drenched in the process of getting into the building. We felt relieved stepping into the air-conditioned SDC.

The other 3 teams competing were Deyi Secondary School, Gan Eng Seng Secondary School and Compassvale Secondary School. Before the quiz, the teams took turns to decide the order for their answers for Round 1. Our team took Team D position.

At the end of Round 1, our team only had 10 points and was the last at that point. At the end of Round 2, we were confirmed last. Apparently, we could have gotten more points if not for a "Trap" which took away all their points. Deyi and Compassvale went into the Bonus Round, where Deyi won by a huge margin and could proceed into the Finals with three other schools.

While waiting for the bus back to school, Sharlene and the girls had an animated conversation with Little George. He's a life-size robot (why Little George?) who has a "brain" in the form of a personnel in a control room. In the end, Little George learned some things: that Sharlene had a crush on a boy from *toot* (censored to protect the privacy of Sharlene) and that NAN HUA ROCKS!!!!! Sharlene also told Little George to tell every passer-by that NAN HUA ROCKS!!!! ... Duh.

And, oh, guess what? I could have taken part and our team might have won. Honestly.

This afternoon was the launch of a little something called VOICES. It stands for Voicing Of Issues Concerning Every Student. VOICES allows students to voice out their views, either by print or oral means, regarding anything from school to the country to international issues. I was the English emcee for this afternoon's launch.

Together with the launch was the first verbal forum. The topic was "Total Defence - Are We Ready?". In the end, the teachers present did most of the talking instead of the students. Perhaps it would be better if they would stick to writing articles and posting them on the noticeboard.

And I was 30 minutes late for ELDDS because of this. I was spared when I told Miss Ong that it was supposed to end 15 minutes before ELDDS starts. I think Miss Wassan might have apologised to Miss Ong regarding the matter.

Oh well.

Sunday.

Saturday, March 08, 2003

I'm involved in ushering duty at an event today. It's called Teen Quest 2003, and it is a joint project of the South West CDC and Nan Hua Secondary School. The theme is "eXperience".

The Councillors going assembled in Canteen 2. Ding Zhi handed me the blazer that he helped me to borrow (I had to rush off after school yesterday, so I didn't borrow). We went to the venue, Jurong East Sports Complex, by bus.

Our first ushering job was to usher the students and teachers of the schools attending today. Ushering is a matter of taking initiative; there was a Secondary Two Councillor beside me who didn't know this point. Now he does.

The event was a fun one, but it became drastic towards the end. See, the event was divided into three phases. The last phase was the Grand Finale, where representatives from 5 of the 12 schools attending will play life-size Snake & Ladder to try and win. Eventually, it took so long that the positions were decided by last-minute dice rolling. (For the record, the dice can continue spinning for a few minutes if it likes.)

When the event was finally over, big rain came. Rain so big almost every student who attended were stuck at the complex. I had an umbrella, but I still got drenched. Sigh...

Biology today. Last paper of this Common Test period. Phew.

So far, we have only gotten back results for two subjects: E. Maths (100%) and Chemistry (82%). That would be two A1s.

Thursday, March 06, 2003

A. Maths and Physics today. They were disasters hidden under blessings. Need I go any further?

Tomorrow's Biology. The last paper for this Common Test period.

Wednesday, March 05, 2003

Chinese and Geography today. Thankfully, the vocabulary segment of the paper was rather easy for me, thanks to my revision. But I so forgot to read up about Geography. I'm gonna fail my Geography.

Then, during Assembly, Miss Norrita, the HOD for English, went crazy over the GCE O Level passing and distinction rate for English for our school. I understood her feeling, but majority of the students didn't. At least, they seemed not to be interested in Miss Norrita's plan for improving English.

Tomorrow, A. Maths and Physics.

Tuesday, March 04, 2003

Chemistry and Social Studies today. Social Studies was the nightmare. One essay question, 13 marks (or 15; I forgot). Chinese and Geography tomorrow. Worried about my Chinese, but I think I'll make it.

Monday, March 03, 2003

E. Maths and English. I managed to survive these two papers. Tomorrow it would be Chemistry and Social Studies. Really gotta study for these two.

Sunday, March 02, 2003

Another Sunday. Tomorrow's the first day of the Common Tests. E. Maths and English. Fine enough for me. Gotta go now.

Saturday, March 01, 2003

Wednesday, we had an Investiture. Today, we are having another Investiture, this time for the parents to watch. My parents did not go, because they had to visit my brother at Pulau Tekong. (He's serving in NS.)

Anyway, the event started at 2 p.m. promptly. Mr. Loh, the Principal, first gave his speech. In it, he also mentioned this morning's news report about Sebastian Chay, an ex-student of us and also an ex-Councillor. I never knew how miserable his family was. Now I do, and I sympathise.

Then the 10th Student Council Executive Committee, or EXCO for short, was introduced, and Bernice, the President of the Student Council, gave her speech. Next the confirmation certificates were given out to all new Councillors who have received the green light to be officially a Councillor.

After a few more speeches it was refreshment time. The photo-taking session was next. After that we loosened up a bit and went crazy. (Sort of.)

It would be another new year for the Student Council.
