January Update

1/1/07
It's 2007. My life is probably going to take a pretty drastic change this year, what with NS, the possibility of going to Oxford to study and being eighteen. For the first day of 2007, I went to Books Kinokuniya at Ngee Ann City with my parents and a cousin who has come to Singapore looking for a job. With the vouchers I got from Founder's Day 2006 I got myself "The Da Vinci Code" and a book with over a hundred Mathematics essays. :)

2/1/07
"The Golden Country" rehearsal this afternoon. My ez-link card has started to charge Adult fares for travel, and my status upon entering the school compounds is now "Visitor" instead of "Student".

After rehearsal, I rushed off for a BBQ gathering with Exco11 and Bernice. Mrs Lim also showed up a few minutes after I did. We had quite a bit of fun, and just being able to crap with Exco11 again was fun. :)

3/1/07
First day of school, but not for me. :D Today we also had the last rehearsal for "The Golden Country" before we go into theatre the next day.

4/1/07
Day 1 in the theatre. Putting up the backdrop took longer than expected, but everything worked out eventually.

5/1/07 - 6/1/07
Actual show nights. I guess I'm not totally pleased with my performance (I felt like I went overboard sometimes), despite everybody telling me how much they hated me (which, in this context, is supposed to be a good thing). Generally the shows went pretty well; to think this will be the last play I'm doing with ACSian Theatre before serving NS and hopefully go study at Oxford.

Post-production party was at Rae's house, after we've strike the set and brought the stuff back to school. We watched "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" and "The Producers" while gorging ourselves (or attempting to) on the 7 huge plates of food and trying to make ourselves drunk. Pool was something which kept me awake throughout the night, so that I did not sleep at all, and I'm glad I at least won a game against David out of 3 rounds between the two noobs that are us.

Sigh. Will miss the fun.

7/1/07
Left Rae's house in the morning so that I can pick up my Edusave Bursary voucher at BBECC. After that I slept to make up for the lost sleeping time.

8/1/07
Went around settling the T-shirts before I enlist.

9/1/07
Farewell dinner with the Madams, Jun and Rae.

10/1/07
Spending time at home before heading to Tekong the next day.

11/1/07
ENLISTMENT. I was posted to Ulysses Coy in BMTC School 2. Got quite a number of familiar faces among the recruits. Fang You is my bed buddy, Wei Loong is in my section and Yan Bo and Jun Yi are both in Ulysses as well. How coincidental can it get?

18/1/07 - 19/1/07
My first book-out of camp to attend a PSC psychological interview on 19 Jan at Civil Service College. I reached home at night on the 18th, much to the surprise of Ah Bee. She was the only one at home besides my brother since my parents had gone to Genting. The next day I was so rushing for time I took a taxi to CSC. Then I found out that it was a psychological interview which would last 3 to 4 hours, rendering my Off Pass invalid. Oops. Anyway, I called back Coyline and I got back without being punished, so that was something.

26/1/07
First Coy book-out. After enduring 2 weeks worth of hardship, all of us can finally return to the real world, albeit for two days only.

27/1/07
Went back to ACJC to catch the West Side Story rehearsals. I reached quite late, 'cause most of the Drama kids were leaving as I came; it seemed that they had just finished the main rehearsals. I did sit in to watch Dee and Hsien rehearse the balcony scene. At night, I went out with the madams and the DEPers to watch a Chinese opera done in English. True, the translation was horrible, but it was a brave attempt, and the overall flavour of Chinese opera was still maintained.

28/1/07
Book-in. Before that, our section met at White Sands Shopping Centre to eat at McDonald's.
