July Update:
26/6/06 - 30/6/06
First week of school. No rehearsals yet, 'course the J1s are taking their dreaded Term Exam.
1/7/06
Extra Physics lesson in the morning which only 6 people showed up. Then went for the Singapore Youth Festival Opening Ceremony at the National Stadium.
2/7/06 - 4/7/06
Youth Day, school holiday, Tuesday.
5/7/06
Last day of Term Exam for most of the J1s.
6/7/06
First rehearsal for "The Guys" in almost two months.
7/7/06
MOE ExCEL Fest 2006 Day 1, for teachers. All students in Singapore are released early so that teachers can go for the exhibitions and courses and those conducting the courses and exhibiting their projects can prepare. A bunch of drama people accompanied Mrs Creffield and Ms Wong to facilitate the drama course they were conducting at my alma mater, Nan Hua High School. Doesn't it feel great to be back? (No, I do not have fan clubs in NHHS.)
Then went to DBS Arts Centre at night to watch The Dresser with the DEP class and some seniors. Loved it thoroughly. :)
8/7/06
Second rehearsal for "The Guys" in the morning, followed by Day 2 of the MOE ExCEL Fest for the public. Our lesson was pretty quiet compared to yesterday's lesson. Once the lesson was over, those involved in the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) Welcome Party at NIE rushed back to school to meet up with the rest and tog up in colourful costumes. For close to four hours, we walked around the place filled with delegates from all over the world, doing face-painting, giving away masks and sculpturing balloons. I even learned some from our resident balloon sculpturer Ebel. Would have been totally fun if my nose hadn't bled for no reason halfway through the event. And four straight hours without spectacles. Woo-hoo.
The night lights look dazzling without spectacles.
9/7/06
Sunday.
10/7/06
Photo shoot for the class in the morning. Tapestry auditions after Math S for me. (Tapestry is a street busking activity happening the following Saturday.)
11/7/06
Third rehearsal for "The Guys". Slowly building up to maximum capacity.
12/7/06
Blue slip for "The Guys" begins at 1.10pm today. Technical rehearsal at HCI from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. Singapore Idol "Spectaculars" begin tonight.
13/7/06
Came earlier to settle class stuff. "SYF Drama Presentation: A Preview" in the afternoon.
14/7/06
"SYF Drama Presentation" at night. Characterisation was the best ever. In my opinion, the best performance we ever had, minus the clamp issue.
15/7/06
A full day of sagas. Technical rehearsal for SDEA's "Celebrate Drama 2006" early in the morning at the Esplanade Theatre Studio. Never worked there before, and now we need to go on the same day we tech. Bus saga when returning to school. Costume saga with the Mid-Autumn people. Afternoon, performed, and that was it for the last time. Pack away struts, pack away costumes and helmets, freshened up to go to Glory's for dinner.
