It's a boring Saturday. There's no homework right now 'cause the exams are over.

Friday, May 30, 2003

Today's the first day of the checking of marked scripts for the Mid-Year Examinations. I did pretty good for E. Maths, although I could have done better. I think I can get at least an A2 for Physics. I was rather surprised that I got a B4 for Chinese SA1. (It's a combination of Paper 1 and Paper 2.) I got a 31 (upon a maximum of 50) for English Paper 2. I suppose we would get back Paper 1 on Monday.

The Amazing Race 4 is on tonight! I must catch it!

Listening Comprehension: Need I say more? It's easily the easiest paper in the whole examination.

Afternoon: Went to Clementi Stadium as a helper for the first Sports Heats. However, I only ended up helping to paste the event schedules in the stadium. After that, it was just sitting around and watching the races. I went home a few hours earlier than the event would end. No point staying if you have nothing to do.

Wednesday, May 28, 2003

Chemistry: One of the easiest Science papers I have seen this examination period. It really lifted my spirits.

Tomorrow is Chinese Listening Comprehension which is only 45 minutes long. But in the afternoon, I've got to go to the Clementi Stadium to help out at the Sports Heats. I volunteered, so I have to go. Well then, good day!

Tuesday, May 27, 2003

Social Studies: It's okay. After listening to Mrs. Chan's lessons, I realised how easy it was to score for the Structured Essay Questions section.

A. Maths: 13 questions in total, difficulty gets greater as we progress through each question. I have hopes of getting a distinction for this paper.

Tomorrow: Chemistry. Hehe, only one paper, means home sweet home earlier than usual.

Monday, May 26, 2003

Geography Elective: A disaster. I doubt I can get a B4 at least.

Physics: Okay, but I didn't finish a question. I hope to lose at most 1 mark from not finishing that question (that question was worth two marks). Other than that, I hope to get a distinction. (Like my friend said, who doesn't?)

Tomorrow: Social Studies and Additional Mathematics.

Sunday, May 25, 2003

It's a Sunday. Two great shows are on this evening. One is the second telecast of the finale of American Idol 2. I didn't watch Part 2 aka the Results show (although I already know the winner). Another great show is The Matrix. That's right, the movie. I've never watched it before, and how regretful I was. Eventually I did watch it, and I feel better.

Oh well, better get ready for tomorrow's tests.

Boring Saturday.

Friday, May 23, 2003

Chinese: I found the first part extremely easy. Parts 2 and 3 were so-so.

Biology: The paper wasn't easy, as my Biology teacher had claimed. I had to rush in the final minutes in order to finish the paper.

Thursday, May 22, 2003

English Paper 2: The Comprehension portion is okay. The summary is the killer. Besides the fact that we had to draw our own summary grid.

Mathematics: Also okay. I spotted what I thought was a mistake in one of the questions in Part 1, but it was not dealt with directly. And for Part 2, my stupidity (actually, it's more of a didn't-see-it thing) caused me to not do a part of a question. It was basically about triangles (similarity, area, etc) and I couldn't think of a solution. After the paper, I consulted a friend and he told me how simple it was. I swear I kicked myself till a hole appeared in my large intestine.

Speaking of large intestine, tomorrow's papers are Biology and Higher Chinese. Oops, better study Chinese now. Ciao!

Biology lessons are so cool. Miss Wong brought us to the AVA Room (both today and yesterday) where we studied for our Biology. I think I'm also getting better at badminton; I played badminton with a few of my friends during P.E. lesson. Maybe I should start learning how to fire. (By the way, the shuttlecock got caught in the leaves of a tree on top of up. I'm not sure if it is still there.)

Tomorrow's the first day of the Mid-Year Examinations. English and Mathematics. I will have to study more for English, since it's comprehension and summary, two of my not-so-good areas.

More revision...more revision...

Monday, May 19, 2003

The teachers are all beginning on revision for our examinations. Actually, they have already begun on the revision. I gotta go do a bit of revision on my own too!

Sunday, May 18, 2003

Went to cut my hair today. Almost army-style, but the front's a bit longer. Now my family has two "army boys". (My elder brother's the real army boy.)

Saturday, May 17, 2003

Another boring weekend stuck at home.

Friday, May 16, 2003

Nan Huarians began a new practice in school today: temperature taking. We are supposed to take our temperature two times every school day, at 7.35 a.m. and 11.50 a.m. Today, my temperature is 36.6°C for my first temperature taking and 36.5°C for my second. See? I'm cool.

Thursday, May 15, 2003

It's Vesak Day today. Happy Vesak Day!

Bad news is, Kimberley Locke's out of American Idol! Sob sob...

Wednesday, May 14, 2003

During Maths lesson today, our Maths teacher told us about the many interesting things about Maths most of us didn't know. I want to use the holiday to look up on this things. I just love Maths.

Also, a new timetable took effect today. It's nothing much, just a change in time. All lesson are to be 30 minutes long, and two temperature taking sessions are to be included during the school at 7.30 a.m. (after morning assembly) and 11.50 a.m. (one lesson after recess). We would be getting our ODTs (oral digital thermometers) on Friday, the day we begin our temperature taking practice. I'm looking forward to getting my own personalised ODT, one which nobody else can use. It's much more hygienic.

Tuesday, May 13, 2003

It's a Tuesday. Normal Tuesday.

Monday, May 12, 2003

Today's an okay Monday. Good news is, Miss Suriani told us that the marker of our English Paper 1 told her that most of our class did well. Cool, at least that's a comforting thought.

Sunday, May 11, 2003

It's a Sunday. 'Nuff said.

Two friends and I attended today's National Secondary School Chinese Debate Competition Finals. The two friends and I were in the same debate team for this competition, but got eliminated at the first stage of the competition. We were there to get certificates for our school's participation in the competition (our school sent two teams). I was to represent the school in collecting the certificates.

We arrived at The Chinese High School, where we gave our temperature declaration forms at the reception (we took our temperatures before going). Since I was to be collecting the certificates, I was separated from my two friends.

A few minutes later the final debate began. The Proposition's motion was "Protecting the environment is more important than developing the economy." After about 1 hour of listening and laughing and thinking, the debate was over, and the judges retreated from the auditorium to decide on a winner.

After a long time, they came back, and declared the Opposition team, Raffles Girls' School, the winner. Incidentally, that was the team that beat my team in the first stage of the competition. I can say that was well earned.

Where's the bad news, you ask. Okay...bad news is, I might have written in the wrong tone for my English Language Paper 1 Section 1. Good news is, I have a high chance of passing both my English Paper 1 and Higher Chinese Paper 1. High is, like, 60%.

Thursday, May 08, 2003

Today I pointed out a mistake in my Chemistry teacher's answer to a question. She overlooked a part of the chemical equation, you see. A result of being too overconfident, she said.

Gonna study for tomorrow's tests. Higher Chinese Paper 1 and English Language Paper 1. Mainly compositions, including situational composition for English Language Paper 1 and letter writing for Higher Chinese Paper 1. Wait for my bad news tomorrow.

Wednesday, May 07, 2003

We had the NAPFA test today. I passed all test items but one: sit-up. Don't know why, but after reading some help notes from a friend, maybe it was because I slammed too hard when I fell back, thus slowing me down. Sigh...

But there's always the retest, and for that, I will make sure I'll get at least a D!

Tuesday, May 06, 2003

An okay day again. Nothing much.

Monday, May 05, 2003

It's an okay day. Had the CME Test today. We haven't been doing much CME these days, but CME is always easy. So we didn't have to worry much. What we do have to worry about is this Friday's tests: English Paper 1 and Higher Chinese Paper 1.

I realized how vulgar my mother can be.

Last night, my mum told my dad to drink some black glutinous rice drink, saying it can prevent against Sars. My father refused, saying that it is "rubbish". Next thing I knew, my mum spouted more than 20 different vulgarities in her dialect.

My dad is so much more disciplined. Maybe because he was once a policeman. Both my parents came from villages in Peninsular Malaysia (they later became citizens of Singapore), but only my mother still has her village roots, believing in things not scientifically proven.

One thing to say to her: WAKE UP.

Saturday, May 03, 2003

There's this Research Project organised by our school's Chinese Language Centre for the schools in the West Cluster. Basically, groups of four students from different schools, under the guidance of a professor sort of person, will investigate a problem in the society nowadays through surveys and actually come up with a conclusion like a real research project. Today is the day for the third "generation" researchers to present their cases and findings. I'm the ... er ... usher who will lead the guest to the stage.

But hey, it's not meaningless. All the six groups focused on a problem concerning secondary school students, for example, secondary school students' focus on image, worshipping of their idols (usually celebrities), etc.

I have the book too. The book presents the groups' findings and analysis in detail. I actually got the book on Speech Day, in the folders my parents got.

I went home once the event was over; I didn't stay for the refreshments.

Friday, May 02, 2003

The Semi-Final of the debating championship has been postponed to next Friday, maybe because the organising committee just found a school to host it. This means that I get to go home early.

Christy Smith is out of Survivor: The Amazon! Oh man!

Thursday, May 01, 2003

May Day! May Day! It's too boring here! Require immediate attention!

Blimey.
