Another long break from blogging. A couple of stuff have happened in this period. In roughly the correct chronological order:
1) Baccalaureate Service
Held on Thursday morning (13 Oct), the service also marked the official last day for the JC2s, the students who have been in ACJC for almost two years and been our seniors ever since the first day of school. It was also at the end of the service that the students received their final Report Cards. The atmosphere was akin to the release of the A Level results; there were lots of photo-taking, hugs, tears, gift exchange and what have you. The vibe was sad, but also with a tinge of hope for the future. I really look forward to our baccalaureate service next year. Mental Note: Get Mr. Chan a bowling pin as our gift to him. Tee-hee.
2) AC Games
This event stretched over three days (the Thursday immediately after the Promos, Friday and the following Monday) and saw 6 games and over 100 fixtures. An inter-class event, 1SA1 was initially reluctant to play, but eventually all of us joined in after the threat of CIP. In the end, our class didn't do too bad, coming in third in both Ultimate Frisbee and Street Bendy.
3) Outreach @ NHSS
On Friday morning (14 Oct), I headed straight to Nan Hua Secondary School. I was part of a team of teachers (Mr. Ngoei, Mr. Sim and Mr. Low) and students from ACJC who were going to promote ACJC in our Outreach programme. The chosen students were all ex-students of NHSS. The Sec 4s turned up for the talk by Mr. Ngoei, who seemed to be in his best debater mode. It was weird seeing the Sec 4s seeming to be slacking. Anyway, after that, Peiyu, Tania and I had sushi in the canteen with Ms Wassan for a while, before she had to return to the hall to introduce the next college that was in NHSS that day (National JC). We hung around until about 12nn before we went back to ACJC.
4) Voice auditions for A Christmas Carol
Voice auditions for our next ACSian Theatre production, A Christmas Carol, were held that Friday afternoon. We auditioned in pairs reading from one of two selected scenes in the script of CC. That night, I received the SMS that there would be rehearsal for CC the next day. That meant I got a role in Christmas Carol! Well, that's until I found out...
5) First rehearsal for A Christmas Carol
...that I would be playing four minor roles. Ah well, I don't really mind it. I really like our drama rehearsals. Wonder how dance rehearsals were going to be.
6) Preparation for ACJC Open House
Preparation for our college's open house began a few weeks prior to the event. For ACSian Theatre, not only did we have the booth and a performance in LT3 to be concerned about, we needed to help Mrs. Creffield with the Drama Elective Programme (DEP) stuff. Dance rehearsals were held every day in the week of 17 October. The committee also helped out in painting the Black Studio (our current studio) black and the Pink Studio (a new studio for the DEP students at Oldham Wing) pink, though the latter was of a lower priority.
7) Promotional Examination results
On the eve of the Open House, we had to be delivered the bombshell: ALL our Promos results. We spent the first three periods of the day checking our scripts and the marks. I got As for Maths, F. Maths and Physics, C for Chemistry and failed by half a mark for General Paper. Thank goodness this is not the overall grade for the JC1 academic year.

The time after the release of the Promos grades was used to prepare the whole college for the Open House on Saturday (22 Oct). Our class was assigned to move plants to a few locations around the school. After that, I headed to the hall to help ACSian Theatre in setting up the booth and later moving frames into the small Store Room beside the Black Studio. By about 4.30pm preparations were pretty much done. We had one final dress rehearsal in LT3 before we stayed behind to scrape off a few-year-old masking tape from the floor of the Black Studio.
On the Open House day, Drama staged a total of 5 performances in LT3 throughout the day. Because the costume for the guys was pretty acceptable enough to be seen in the public, I could walk around the hall in between performances and freak my classmates out. Overall, I must say I really liked Open House. In fact, it was only until the time when I was writing this blog entry that I really realised the presence of the AC Spirit on that day. It was so strong.
9) Project Work
Project Work was another big thing these days. We had to scramble in the one week which we had to finish up our Written Reports. After that, my group had the great honour to finish our Oral Presentation powerpoint slides in less than 4 days before an OP Trial on Tuesday (25 Oct). Thank goodness I was able to get a high level for myself, but overall the group was pretty uneven. For now, we need to relax a little.
10) Christmas Carol rehearsals and tickets
Christmas Carol rehearsals resumed on Tuesday (25 Oct) with both drama and dance. We are practising both in opposite directions; drama from the front and dance from the finale dance. Until today, we have rehearsed about one-third of the script and finished two-thirds of the finale dance.
Another issue with Christmas Carol was tickets. Our ticketing IC Matthew gave his first lecture after rehearsal on Wednesday, and he was shaking by the time he was done. The most unfortunate thing was, we were selling fewer tickets in ACJC than in every other secondary school we visited these two weeks. So here's the breakdown of the whole issue:

5) An actor's worst fear is having no audience to appreciate his work.
6) It's the holidays! O Levels should be over by then too.
Please look carefully too; it's NOVEMBER, not DECEMBER (just because the show's titled A Christmas Carol). If you wish to get tickets, get them ASAP from me because the closer we get to production date, the less time I'll have to correspond with any of you.

I got a shock when I saw my result slip, which was given on Wednesday (26 Oct). After moderation, I got As for all my subjects except GP (C5).
Phew. Two weeks squeezed into one entry. Kegan, can you beat me? MUAHAHAHA!
