Since it was still a long way to the second debate of the day, I sat in one of the debate rooms to watch the debate. The teams for the second debate were present, so I could adjudicate. The motion for this was "This House believes that housewives should be paid for their work." It was a fairly easy decision to make as to which team gets into the Semi Finals.

The Inter-Class Debate Competition was held this afternoon. I went down to the debate room which the first debate I was going to adjudicate was assigned to. However, while one of the teams was present waiting, one team didn't show up after all the other debates had begun. After a short discussion with Miss Chan, this debate was cancelled and the team which was present went automatically into the Semi Finals. That's the reward for being responsible.

The Sec 4 debaters (Crystal, Xiao Thong, Cheng Rong, Abraham and I) met during lunch today regarding the adjudication of tomorrow's Inter-Class English Debating Competition preliminary rounds. I was scheduled to adjudicate two debates tomorrow, so I spent the afternoon in the comfort of the Councillor's Room reading the set of notes on adjudicating debates given to us during lunch. I had to be a little discreet as a few feet away, the debaters from 2/6, who were coincidentally all councillors, were preparing their debate.

There was supposed to be a Chemistry Timed Practice this morning, but the department decided to change it to the experiment day for those who took the pilot test. This meant I was involved.
The moment candidates walked into the labs, we could see that all the apparatus we had requested for in the report we returned to the teachers were placed neatly on the benches, together with the three samples of the acid. Apparently I did not seem to be the only one doing titration, but titration was a minority. Quan Ming, who was supposed to be seated next to me for the test, was absent.
We carried on with our experiment and when the actual experiment was over, we had to write another report on the success or failure of the experiment and what could be done to improve it. I finished just on time, submitted my paper and cleared up both mine and Quan Ming's apparatus.
I joined Wei Loong, who also took the pilot test, and we opened the Councillor's Room to freeze in there until the Councillor Meeting that afternoon, which wasn't that eventful.

Today's April Fool's Day. You'll really be a fool if you don't already know.
The class decided to play tricks on the teachers teaching us today. The first trick with Mr. Pandian, who was our first subject teacher of the day, worked perfectly. The plan was that one by one, majority of the class would go up to Mr. Pandian and tell him that they forgot to bring Physics textbook or notes or worksheet. Usually he would tell the student to stand outside the classroom. Today he was overwhelmed. The trick ended in applause when Chii Yeh, Mr. Pandian's successor, also stood up (as though to tell Mr. Pandian he also forgot to bring his stuff) and passed a note to Mr. Pandian: "Happy April Fool's Day!"
Subsequent tricks were easily seen through. Mdm Sia was the hardest nut to crack, with her no-nonsense attitude towards work. Other teachers knew because earlier classes also tricked them. Mrs. Wong also suffered the same treatment we gave to Mr. Pandian from 4/10, so she expected.
The class seemed to be playing a trick with me too. Someone brought a plastic spider about the size of a correction tape that could stick onto walls if it is thrown towards a wall. The class knew perfectly I was arachnophobic and some probably felt satisfaction looking at me being terrified when the spider ended up on my table. Even now, as I’m typing this entry, I shudder when thinking of the spider. *shudder*
