Nothing on today.

Friday, April 29, 2005

An ACJC student walking into the school this morning would have instantly noticed new posters for Camelot with Shu and Leon on it. This was part of our Camelot rebranding campaign launching today. All old posters have been removed and new posters put up. Tickets have also upgraded in terms of quality; it now shows the picture from the old poster. The people were really hard at work yesterday evening, bringing the old posters down and putting up the new posters in practically every possible spot that can be imagined. On my side, I'm pushing Camelot ticket sales in NHSS, and I hope somehow they will be able to pay by Edusave forms to lighten their burden. Sigh...

Camelot rehearsal after school, by the way.

Thursday, April 28, 2005

Woke up early in the morning and took a taxi to school so that I can ensure I will reach the school by 6.30am. After warm-ups and preparations (i.e. costume and make-up) and one run-through, we boarded the bus to take us to PJC. The event we were performing at was an HOD Symposium, attended by MOE officials I suppose.

Our holding room in PJC was an air-conditioned Art Room at the Sports Complex, near the multi-purpose room where we were going to perform. There was a long and hot wait outside the multi-purpose room before we were able to go in and perform. We finished at around 10 and headed back to ACJC. After a round of cleaning up, we were given a debrief and returned to classes at 11.50am.

That was my first public performance with ACSian Theatre (if you recall, the mime performance at the ASDS Complex in March didn't show eventually), and I thought it was okay, though the carpeted floor was hard to dance on. :)

Wednesday, April 27, 2005

There was the annual ACJC Track & Field Meet this afternoon, but drama people are excused from going. We rehearsed for the MOE performance and also went down to PJC in the evening to rehearse there for about an hour.

Tuesday, April 26, 2005

Camelot rehearsal today. Today's dance rehearsal was also for an MOE performance which we will be doing at PJC on Thursday morning.

Monday, April 25, 2005

Rehearsal cancelled today.

Sunday, April 24, 2005

Went to Jurong Point to buy a Habbo Card and a plain black T-shirt for Camelot.

Saturday, April 23, 2005

Slacked.

Friday, April 22, 2005

Today's PE periods were spent in the ACJC Gym. This was my first time actually using gym machines, so I felt kinda awkward. I actually thought I pissed off Jun Yi, who was my teacher for the day since I wasn't present in class when they began the first lesson in the gym last Friday.

We had two tests after lunch. The F. Maths topical test on series wasn't too difficult (finished within 10 minutes), and the GP open-book common test wasn't too difficult too, considering I read some articles in drips and draps.

Camelot rehearsal today started off with the usual lecture on ticket selling. We had a short dance rehearsal for Camelot after the drama rehearsal, after which we went into rehearsing for the MOE dance, which is actually a variation of the Investiture dance. We finished at around 9.30pm.

Thursday, April 21, 2005

Today's my first official day as the new 1SA1 class rep. Nothing much there really; feels like normal life still. Mdm Liu made an incredibly funny joke during F. Maths lecture today: she actually proved by induction that having a girlfriend will cause a guy to see his girlfriend on nth page of a book that he is reading. For a full 5 minutes the whole LT3 cracked up and I seriously wonder if Mdm Liu had such a great sense of humour in her uni days. No Camelot dance rehearsal today, so I went home earlier than usual. (Remember 'usual' for me is past 8.)

Wednesday, April 20, 2005

During the PCCG period today, Mr. Chan decided (together with the class' approval) to make me the new class rep for another few months. Mr. Chan rotates leadership roles around the class so that everybody has a chance at leadership.

Afternoon was spent in the Drama Studio hanging out with other Theatre members. Dance began at 6-plus and ended at 8 plus with the blocking in of newcomers, earlier as the integration tonight didn't require any dances.

Tuesday, April 19, 2005

Chemistry common test today wasn't too difficult. Camelot dance rehearsal today saw the return of Raj and also the addition of a few Dance Society members, who would be joining in the solely couples' dance. The rest didn't learn any new dances today.

1SA1 and 1SA2 were rostered down as officials for the Track & Field heats today after school. 1SA1 showed up, but only Davina from 1SA2 turned up. Davina was the 'runner' for the day, while those present in 1SA1 were split up into track judges and timekeepers. Since dance rehearsal for today was cancelled, I came down to help as a timekeeper. The last event, 800m Boys, ended off with a little chaos on the timekeepers' part. More specifically, my part; I was supposed to time the one who comes in second, but both the second and third place runners were so close that my timing was more than that of one of those who was doing for third place. *shudder*

Sunday, April 17, 2005

Slacked in the morning and watched NKF Charity Show at night, which ended with strong persistant pleas for donations just to reach a million calls. Wonder what really happened. But anyway, I didn't touch my homework.

Saturday, April 16, 2005

Headed to school in the morning to help out in the final day of the ACJC Annual Swim Meet. Originally in logistics, I switched over to being a timekeeper because there was a shortage of timekeepers. The good thing was I got to spend about 2 hours barefoot on the pool deck (to me, being barefoot makes me feel free; that's why I would rather go barefoot :p) and I occasionally got the refreshing splash from the swimmers as they touched the walls of the pool.

The whole meet ended off with a solo synchronised swimming performance (notice the irony between 'solo' and 'synchronised'?) and the prize-presentation ceremony, where CKS emerged as the overall House Champions again. ;) It's nice being in CKS. Hehe. My volunteering for the swim meet ended with the carrying of the trophies back to the staff room at Oldham Wing.

Went out in the afternoon to get a few things needed for the Camelot performance. My first destination was Jurong Point, but I couldn't get the belt which I wanted, so I headed all the way to Far East Plaza in Orchard (because Ms Wong recommended that place) and got the belt from 77th Street. After that I took the train back to Bukit Batok and bought deodorant and shoe freshener from NTUC. I didn't spot any Habbo Prepaid Cards at the Comics Connection store in all three shopping centres, so I guess I'll buy them next time. I also bought two KFC meals before heading back home, since my elder brother was craving for the Curry Crunch.

Left school at 9am today with two other ACSian Theatre members (probably from the ticketing department) to promote and sell Camelot tickets at RI. We managed to get to RI in time for their recess thanks to our decision to take a taxi instead of the MRT, and the taxi ride wasn't too expensive anyway. Upon arriving at the Administration Office of RI, we were instantly recognised by one of the admin staff as ACJC students here to sell tickets (seems like Ms Quah, teacher-in-charge of the Raffles Players, the drama club in RI, has already informed the admin staff of our coming to RI). After taking Jeanne's (the gal who was also here to sell tickets with me) ez-link card and reminding us that we're only restricted to the canteen, we set off for the canteen. After setting up our simple booth (draping the tablecloth over a table and trying to make the poster stand without the easel), we waited for 9.50am, the start of their recess.

At the end of the day we only managed to sell 1 ticket, but we bear the hope that we got more people interested. We returned to ACJC at about 12nn for normal lessons. For me, it was a delight to learn of my Physics Common Test score (23/25), but later struggled in Mrs. Yeo's F. Maths test. This time I really am going to fail the test.

Camelot rehearsal today was again pretty slack. The dancers got to go home at 7 plus, since today's integration only required the main cast. We left not before hearing from Mrs. Creffield that our Dance Society got a bronze in the SYF Central Judging for dance today and none of us were quite happy.

Thursday, April 14, 2005

Early day off school. And by my 'early day' I mean 4.30pm, which is usual dismissal time.

Wednesday, April 13, 2005

Camelot rehearsal today began a little later than usual because the J1 Arts members were away at Turf City to support ACJC in some national cross-country championship. Ended at 9 plus with a heavy heart; if I didn't sell 20 tickets by next Monday I'd be dead.

Tuesday, April 12, 2005

Got 10/20 for Mdm Liu's Maths Test and 11/20 for the F. Maths component. How delighting.

Had our first Project Work lesson today. Our teacher, Mdm Ng, keeps telling us that it's not that too difficult, but after going through some confidential stuff, it did sound daunting and stuff. Sounds very business-like too; kinda like going through The Apprentice, except we have about 8 months for the project.

Due to the absence of the J1 Arts students tomorrow afternoon (to support our school at some national cross-country championship), there were some changes made to the rehearsal schedule for today and tomorrow, meaning that there was rehearsal today and I had to skip the swim heats. In the end I only stayed until 7 plus, after which Mrs. Creffield would be working with the main cast. Dancing today was less strenous, considering also that Raj was away due to SYF dance competition.

I would like also to appeal to people who read this blog to help get your friends to watch Camelot too. Ticket sales have been dismal (pretty much due to the prices) and it has been estimated that not even one-quarter of the theatre will be filled in each performance.

1) $50 is actually a reasonable price for a musical theatre production; most productions you see put up at the Esplanade or other arts venues cost about the same or even more.
2) It's free seating; you can sit anywhere in the theatre. (Not on the floor.)
3) If you're worried about school the next day, there's always the Friday night show.
4) The money raised will be channelled to building funds for the ACJC Centre for Performing Arts, meaning you're watching the show for a good cause.
5) Camelot is worth the money, because it's gonna be great.
6) Make it a class outing or gathering. I've heard that a whole class (from ACJC) is watching Camelot as a class outing, partly because some people in the class were in ACSian Theatre.
7) I'm dancing, so must give me face...:p

Once again, the details of the performance:

Dates: 25th May to 28th May (Wednesday - Saturday)
Time: 8pm, 2pm (Matinee on 28th May)
Venue: Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) Centre for the Performing Arts
Ticket prices: $30 (Special ACJC student prices for Wednesday show and Saturday matinee), $50, $100 (Public prices for Thursday and Friday shows), $200 (Gala Night on Saturday)

Let me know if you're interested and I'll get the tickets for you. :) I'm begging... :( Tell as many people about this as possible, even put up ads in your own blogs, but do support Camelot...:p

Monday, April 11, 2005

Today's Maths / F. Maths Common Test 2 set by Mdm Liu wasn't too well done; I don't have confidence for this paper.

After school I helped out at the ACJC Annual Swim Meet heats at the Sports Complex. Since I signed up as volunteer under logistics, I came under Mr. David Loh. I became Mr. Loh's personal assistant for the event, but I mainly slacked because logistics only come in at the start and end of the event. Went home at 6 plus, will be coming again for tomorrow's heats. The finals are on this Saturday.

Sunday, April 10, 2005

Slacked as usual.

Saturday, April 09, 2005

Slacked.

Friday, April 08, 2005

Today's rehearsal has been cancelled, so I get an early day off. Survivor: Palau has reached new heights where Stephanie becomes the 'Sole Survivor'...of Ulong. I really like Stephanie; she's very strong.

Thursday, April 07, 2005

After assembly this morning Mrs Chan spoke to the college about the proposed Centre for Performing Arts (CPA) in the ACJC campus and highlighted Camelot too. $30 tickets will be open to students from other schools (not sure if it's still restricted to Methodist schools) soon, so any ACJC students who are interested in watching should get their tickets soon. Members of the public can buy $50 and $100 tickets for 26th and 27th May and $200 tickets for 28th May's 8pm show, and the $100 and $200 tickets are tax-exempt. ;) I'm pretty excited about the whole thing. ;)

Wednesday, April 06, 2005

The NE period today was conducted in the hall. We watched a fashion parade and concert, the latter presented mainly by some of the foreign students in ACJC. For Camelot rehearsal after school, we rehearsed a short bit of the dances before rehearsing Act 1 of Camelot together with the dances. I must say the show is pretty professionally done, and anybody who bought tickets won't regret their decision to do so. ;) To anybody who are interested, public shows are on 26th May and 27th May at 8pm, the venue is at the ACS (I) Centre for the Performing Arts and tickets are going at $50 and $100. Let me know if you or anybody you know are interested. This is, after all, a fund-raising project, and all of us ought to do good deeds. ;)

Tuesday, April 05, 2005

Nothing much today. Spent the night drawing a gift tag to be attached to Mercy Relief play packs that are to be sent to Sri Lanka.

Monday, April 04, 2005

Today's the first day for some things. We finally met our new 1SA1 as a class during contact time after chapel. We got our new timetable (with a few amendments from the old timetable). I also learnt some Malay today courtesy of June Teng and Wan Ying: saya diam...:X (means "I'll keep quiet").

Sunday, April 03, 2005

My grandfather and some other relatives came today, so I couldn't play the computer for a bit of time (my grandfather was given my room to rest).

Saturday, April 02, 2005

Nothing much happened today.

Friday, April 01, 2005

It's April Fool's Day. The Media Resource Crew (MRC), in charge of all the technical stuff for every morning's assembly, fooled almost everybody (even Mrs Chan) by 'flipping' the stage horizontally. That is to say, the podium and the seats for the principals were all on stage left instead of stage right.

However, apart from that little joke, the day was mainly serious and heavy, especially since the class lists were released today. The new 1SA1 consisted of 10 original students from 1SA1 and 15 new members, making the class enrolment 25. Of the other 8 original 1SA1 members, 7 went to 1SA2 and 1 went to 1SA3. The scholars' group and another close-knit group were split up, resulting in some of them having a bad mood today. I managed to stay in 1SA1, by the way.
